Fill Your Day with Joy

With all the chaos that surrounded 2020, it can feel like happiness has taken a back seat to stress, anxiety and fear. Here are a few simple ideas to help you cultivate more joy in your everyday life.

Savor some music. Put on your favorite feel-good playlist and dance like no one is watching, or kick back and relax.

Journal your thoughts. In the morning, write down three things you're grateful for, then spend five minutes in the evening journaling about your day to help release any stressful thoughts before bed.

Greet those around you. Because humans are social creatures, even small interactions with others can bolster your mood. Ask your grocery store clerk how their day is going, make small talk with coworkers or call a friend on the way to work.

Limit the news. Constantly consuming the news can cause more harm than good. Try setting boundaries to set yourself up for a relaxing evening and restful sleep.

Go outside. Take a brisk walk around your neighborhood, eat lunch at an outdoor café, or relax on your deck, patio or porch.
